In order to solve the climate emergency we are facing, we will need to take bold steps and quickly.  As a TV meteorologist, Denver7’s Mike Nelson has a unique opportunity to educate his viewers via his expertise in climate science.

Join us for an interactive presentation from Mike, and a discussion to follow focused on what we can all do to help mitigate this looming crisis.

Mike Nelson has served as Chief Meteorologist for Denver7 since 2004. He received his 4-year degree in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 1985, Mike served as Chief Meteorologist at KMOV-TV until 1991. Prior to his position at Denver7, Nelson was Chief Meteorologist for KUSA-TV from 1991 to 2004. Mike has won over 20 Emmy awards and in 2016, Mike was inducted into the “Silver Circle” – recognizing 25 years of service in Colorado.

In 2001, he was recognized by the Colorado Broadcasters Association as their “Citizen of the Year” for his volunteer work in Colorado schools. He has spoken to over one million kids, many clubs, and service organizations since the start of his career.

Mike has also written two books on Colorado weather, as well as The World’s Littlest Book on Climate with Dr. Pieter Tanns and Michael Banks. Mike was named a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society in 2019.
