Chatham Rabbits

Chatham Rabbits

Presented By KGNU

Door time: 7:30

Show time: 8:00

There is something warm and instantly familiar about the beloved roots duo, Chatham Rabbits. Partners in music and life, Chatham Rabbits’ Austin and Sarah McCombie blend their personal histories through deft songwriting and a history that comes from building a life together. Leaning into each other’s strengths, their songs present a congenial, collaborative spirit that has captured the pure adoration of fans along the way and earned them praise from Garden & Gun Magazine, American Songwriter, and No Depression.

Their artistry hinges on a fervent desire to connect with others through the music that first brought the pair together. Steeped in the regional traditions of their North Carolina home, Chatham Rabbits’ musical pursuits represent a new age of roots music. Chatham Rabbits recorded and released their beloved debut album, All I Want From You in 2019. This set the standard for their sophomore release The Yoke is Easy, The Burden is Full—the centerpiece song “Oxen” was named “Top Folk Song of 2020” by Paste Magazine. Nurtured by central North Carolina’s fertile, influential music scene, Chatham Rabbits’ sound continues to evolve in their expansive third album, If You See Me Riding By (2022), which was simultaneously released with a television series, On the Road with Chatham Rabbits, on PBS-NC. The McCombies ingenuity during the Covid-19 crisis led to the creation of their mobile concert experience, The Stay at Home Tour, which took the duo to 194 neighborhoods in 2020-21. The pair is currently recording their fourth album of poignant original songs and continuing to foster their tight-knit fan community across the US.

What’s Your Everest

What’s Your Everest

Presented by FNBO

Door time: 8:00 AM

Show time: 8:30 AM

What’s Your Everest presented by FNBO empowers people to overcome their personal Everests, as teams “rope up” for a community hike and rally around people of all abilities to help them reach their summit.

The event is inspired by world-renowned adventurer and No Barriers co-founder Erik Weihenmayer’s summit of Mount Everest in 2001, where he became the first blind person to reach the highest peak in the world.

What’s Your Everest brings individuals of all abilities together to push, pull, and support each other in their efforts to reach their own personal Everest. Attendees take this life-changing experience home with them, along with an applicable framework to help guide them through life’s challenges.

More than just a hike, What’s Your Everest 2024 will introduce you to the life-changing work that No Barriers brings to the community, the people we serve, and like-minded partners who are helping to build an inclusive world where barriers don’t stand in the way of possibilities.

We’ll kick off with a speaking session called “Mapping Everest,” where you’ll hear inspiring stories that will motivate you to get outside and hike with your rope team. After the hike, we’ll celebrate in the park’s lawn with music, entertainment and snacks.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

7:30 – 8:15 AM         |  Check-in

Grit Chair fitting (for participants using Grit Chairs)

8:30 – 9:15 AM         |  Mapping Everest

Find a place within the historic Chautauqua Auditorium where you’ll garner inspiration from incredible speakers, including Erik Weihenmayer, No Barriers Co-founder and the first blind person to summit Mt. Everest. In addition, we’ll share an overview of the hike and the various activities and optional challenges you’ll encounter along the way.

9:15 – 11:30 AM      |  Community Hike

Join community members in supporting each other, physically and mentally, for a 2.2 mile hike. You’ll start at the Enchanted Mesa Trailhead with your rope team, and continue up the service road for just over a mile before returning back. Along the hike, you’ll learn about persevering through challenges, and how to collaborate with others to build strong communities.

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM  | Post-Hike Celebration

Join us on the lawn at Chautauqua Park to connect with the No Barriers community while congratulating and networking with attendees and community partners. The Lawn will have live music, fun activities, opportunities to engage with local partners, and light food and beverages.
